Notes:

  • Each plague made very visible that God is greater than any of the false gods of Egypt.
  • Go through each of the false gods.
  • We are not told how Moses gained entry to Pharaoh. It must have been interesting. It would be much more difficult than getting in to see the President of the U.S.
  • Note that Pharaoh refused to listen to God.
  • Pharaoh tried to bargain with God (have the people worship within the boundaries of Egypt.
  • In at least two of the plagues God did not touch the area of Goshen where the Hebrews lived. Their cattle and children were saved.
  • God had the people prepare to leave. God knew this would be the final plague.
  • Note the blood on the door posts and top of the door. Everyone was outside the house and then had to pass through the blood to enter the place of safety.
  • The perfect lamb was sacrificed and the people ate of it. The lamb was totally consumed. There was no part that was not good.
  • Passover is to be celebrated forever by all of the descendants.
  • N.T. Scriptures support Passover.
  • Christ celebrated Passover.
  • Early church celebrated Passover.
  • Passover began to not be observed during the time of Constantine.
  • Constantine and the Council of Nicea knowingly moved the church away from its Jewish roots.
  • Roman Catholic Church continued the move away from the idea that Christianity is a fulfillment of Jewish prophesy and law and toward it being a new and different religion.
  • This has caused a discontinuity and much confusion in the church. We do not know our roots.
