Find your Mission

 Find your Mission

1 Corinthians 7:7    7 I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

1 Corinthians 12:4  4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
1 Corinthians 14:12  12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.

Romans 11:29   29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Romans 1:11  11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Ephesians 3:7-8   7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 8 Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ,

1 Timothy 4:14  14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

James 1:17 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

1 Peter 4:10 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

2 Timothy 1:6-7  6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Matthew 7:11  11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

1 Corinthians 12:27-31  27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

1 corinthians 1:7  7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Outline

v  You have a mission from God and gifts from God to accomplish that mission.

Ø  1 Corinthians 7:7    7 I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

Ø  James 1:17 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Ø  Matthew 7:11  11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him

Ø  Tell the story about Johnny the bagger.

Ø  We all have gifts from God that enable us to carry out the mission God gives us.

Ø  Each person has the gift suited to their abilities, interests and personality.

Ø  No gift or mission is better or worse than another. All gifts and missions are there to carry out God’s will and most certainly to bring people to Christ.

Ø  The gift may not be what you expect or even want, but is will be the right one for you and will fit you to be an effective worker for the Lord.

v  Find your mission and gift.

Ø  1 Corinthians 12:27-31  27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Ø  No gift or mission is better or worse than another. All gifts and missions are there to carry out God’s will and most certainly to bring people to Christ.

Ø  The gift may not be what you expect or even want, but is will be the right one for you and will fit you to be an effective worker for the Lord.

v  Your mission and gift starts now where you are not where you want to be or think you should be.

Ø  Ephesians 3:7-8   7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 8 Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ,

Ø  1 Corinthians 1:7  7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ø  Do not wait until you are sure you know what your mission and gift are or until you “feel” you have prepared enough or are ‘ready” to start. Start working where you are. God gives the gifts, assigns the mission and gives the increase.

Ø  It is not a matter of what we do but rather what God does.

Ø  The gift God gives you will make room for itself through God’s actions, not yours.

v  Your mission and gift is not about you.

Ø  1 Corinthians 12:4  4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Ø  1 Corinthians 14:12  12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.

Ø  Romans 11:29   29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Ø  Romans 1:11  11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Ø  God gives the gift to us and assigns us our mission. IT IS NOT ABOUT US!

Ø  The Holy Spirit operates the gift in us to carry out the mission assigned to us. IT IS NOT ABOUT US!

Ø  The gifts of God are not just for a time and a season. They are irrevocable. We may decide not to use a gift or to use it incorrectly, but the gift itself is irrevocable. IT IS NOT ABOUT US!

Ø  Many people say many of the gifts were only for the early church. This is not Scriptural. IT IS NOT ABOUT US!

v  Your mission and gift purpose.

Ø  1 Peter 4:10 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Ø  1 Corinthians 14:12  12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.

Ø  The purpose of any gift and mission is to further God’s kingdom and IS NOT ABOUT US!

Ø  We are the ambassador of the Lord. We are NOT the focal point of the gift or the mission.

Ø  We are here to serve, not be served.

v  Your mission and gift will help you grow.

Ø  2 Timothy 1:6-7  6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

v  Your mission and gift will be apparent in other parts of your life.
